So you want to learn web design.

Well in this post, I’ll be going over a few simple ways you can learn web design.

Code Academy

Code Academy is an online educational platform where you can learn how to code for free.

There are many modules that take you through how to code step by step.

I remember a while back in College, I was on Code academy to teach myself how to design websites.

I was learning programming languages such as HTML and CSS. They were pretty simple to wrap my head around and I credit Code Academy for making it so easy for me.

They had easy to follow guides and real time coding. You would type some code in and see if you got the desired results.

College

I’m actually very AGAINST you going to College to learn how to code. I put it in here because I was afraid you’d think of College and decide on that option.

You see, I was actually learning how to code when I was in College but I was very against this since I could easily look this stuff up online and learn like that.

And guess what? That’s exactly what I was doing. I wasn’t always sure what the teacher was talking about but when I looked things up online, I got a much better understanding of the lesson.

Even though I was going to College, most of my learning was self-taught. The College had nothing to do with it.

Teach yourself!

The best way to learn web design I believe is to teach yourself.

You see, when you’re in a classroom, lessons are very broad. For example, let’s say you need to design a high converting landing page for your website.

Guess what? College most likely won’t teach that or you’ll just learn it whenever the time comes in the College syllabus.

But if you’re self taught, you can very easily look it up online, no College needed. Can you now see why I’m against you going to College to learn web design and code in general?

You can teach yourself everything you need to know and there’s…

  • NO need for you to spend a ton of time getting to College
  • NO need for you to spend a ton of money getting into a fancy College
  • NO need for you to waste any time with College

You can save yourself a ton of time, money, headaches, and regret by avoiding College.

Now, you may be saying, “But Zukais, College is a lot more structured with what they teach and I can network with like-minded people”

You are correct, College is structured with what they teach and you can connect and network with like-minded people.

BUT HERE’S THE THING:

If you want a more structured way of learning, you can buy some web design courses on Udemy for a few dollars.

You can also connect with like-minded people online through Facebook groups and forums. This is what I’ve done, I’ve video called these people I met and they even became great colleagues, clients, even friends.
